oralroberts Special user South Africa 912 Posts | 0 Hi Guys, Stumbled across a new torrent site that is hosting many illegal magic dvds and downloads. My latest release 'WATCH' by Jacques Le Sueur has just been uploaded without permission (21 July 2014). To be honest, I am flattered that someone choose to share it. Not sure if I am allowed to post the url here, but maybe the mods can inform me. I have filed DMCA papers already. Let's find out who owns this site, and send him/her some love :-) |
bahamagician Regular user 131 Posts | 1 If the DMCA papers have been filed, then I'd think it might be best not to share the link on a public forum. It'll simply be a way for more people to get access to the material. However, if you do know a creator on here who's works are being pirated, you could perhaps PM them directly. Just a thought. |

Additionally, many creators know they are being preyed upon in this manner, so they probably check from time to time. That's how. My ex-cat was named 'Muffin'. 'Vomit' would be a better name for her. AKA 'The Evil Ball of Fur'. |

Titanas V.I.P. 1802 Posts | 0 If you distribute through MMS your downloads are watermarked with the customers personal info. This keeps the product off of the torrent sites. If anyone does post on a torrent site, everyone will know who it is and they can trace the offender down. Kudos to Murphys for creating such a safe download system! Best Titanas |
Acar Elite user 472 Posts | 3 This thread has over twice as many views-per-post as any other thread. Hm... I wonder what effect posting 'New Magic Torrent Site BEWARE' had on Café users.. I'm sure most of them wanted to know what site NOT to go to... LOL On the topic of sites to avoid, there's this site full of naked women performing magic I stumbled on yesterday while googling 'stripper deck'. It's just filthy. Definitely don't go there... Naked women performing magic BEWARE. http://tinyurl.com/n333lz3 |

oralroberts Special user South Africa 912 Posts | 0 The torrent has been removed and the uploader was even kind enough to email me - and I quote here: Magic Dealer <[email protected]> 'It's deleted ... Sorry.' Nothing will stop digital torrenting...not even watermarks; but it is flattering that someone thought my product was worth torrenting. Ah, the internet. I encourage anyone with a commercial digital product 'out there' to file the DMCA files and take action. That's really all we can do. Keep the passion. |
paw Loyal user 238 Posts | 0 If someone’s intention is to post files on a torrent site nothing is going to stop them. HOWEVER, having a product watermarked is the best deterrent available. Look at it this way, if a burglar really wants to break into your home, there’s not much that can really stop them. But if you have a security system in place they will more than likely go on to a home that has no protection (especially if the alarm system screams their name for everyone to hear). Personally, I would have a protection system on mine… |
Poof-Daddy Inner circle Considering Stopping At Exactly 4535 Posts | 0 You really have to watch sites these days and remember 'if it sounds to good to be true... It probably is' I reported in a thread a while back in the ebook section (I think) on a similar thread about how I was looking on google for a couple books (hoping to find them in digital format) and ordered a book (which is $6-$8 in physical form) for $3 digital. a few emails later they told me they were out of stock but I could pick another. They sent me a $75 book 'free' and it was a flat out copy machine scan of a popular book. I told them they were being reported and my money got refunded ($3) and I passed on the info about the site. BUT... the site is still there. We, as a group of like minded people (even though we often disagree we are still magicians) really need to police ourselves and support creators and legit shops. If they still can't stop major record lables and motion picture studios from being downloaded. They certainly won't care about our (small, compared to the others) market. If a hacker or a virus makes the file available to the public the seller comes after you. I'd rather not buy watermarked files for this reason. Imagine if someone broke into your home and stole your stereo and when it showed up on the black market, Sony came after YOU. Same thing. |
paw Loyal user 238 Posts | 0 I think if someone is personally hacking you, you have MUCH bigger problems than to worry about a magic download. lol |
